FAQ

Mermaid Shelly
The things we may not have covered, but that you may be rather curious about.

Here are some typical cruiser questions, with answers provided by management and fellow passengers:
  • Does Norwegian offer airport to pier transfers? They do, but unanimously cruisers have recommended foregoing the cruise line's shuttle in favor of taking a cab.  Cost is around $25 (per cab) one way for either a taxi and about $20 (per person) for a shuttle and nearly all say the taxi is the much faster and easier option... cheaper too, if more than one of you is riding
  • When should I can check-in at the ship? You must be checked in at least 90 minutes prior to the announced sailing time (by 2:30pm to be safe), and on board at least 60 minutes prior (3pm to be safe).  Handling your paperwork and e-docs ahead of time will help speed up the check-in process.  Check-in will likely start as early as noon and you are welcome to eat lunch onboard, though you will not be able to get into your cabin till 2 or 3pm
  • What time should I arrange my return flight?  Norwegian recommends at least 6 hours after we return to Miami, thus, after 1:00pm.
  • How long may I stay onboard after we dock in Miami?  We arrive in port at 7am, and you are expected to be out of your cabin by 9am and off the ship around 9:30am
  • Gratuities - Tips and gratuities are not included in your base rate. When you board the ship, a non-refundable service charge of $12 per person per day ($36.00 total) will automatically be added to your onboard account.
  • Does the ship have wifi?  At present, no. In the future, yes. For now, web access is available at the ship's internet cafe at the rate of 75 cents per minute
  • What sort of identification is necessary? A Passport book or card, if you plan to get off the ship Please visit Norwegian Cruise Line's FAQ page for additional details.
  • May I bring food or drinks onboard?  Guests are prohibited from bringing any alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages or any food onboard.
Alcoholic beverages will not be sold or served to anyone under the age of 21. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the ship’s gift shops or in ports of call will be retained by Norwegian Cruise Line until the end of the voyage.
